Gueydan—Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eugenia Leger Lavergne, 82, who died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Mitchell Guidry officiating the services.
She is survived by her son, Vernice P. "Butch" Lavergne Jr. and his wife Earline of Wright; two daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" and her husband James LeJeune of Gueydan and Agnes L. and her husband Huey P. Campbell Jr. of New Orleans; five grandchildren, Kimberly L. Maturin, Glenn A. Lavergne, Tommy J. LeJeune, Keith A. LeJeune and Huey "Tucker" Campbell III; and three great grandchildren, Chloe Maturin, Gavin Lavergne and Macie Lavergne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernice P. Lavergne; her parents, Guilliam Leger and the former Emelia Istre; two brothers; and eight sisters.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Monday, June 8, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, June 9, from 8 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession departs for the church.
