Enola Champagne Lemaire

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at an 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Enola Champagne Lemaire, 82, who passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 9, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Scripture readings for the funeral mass will be read by Peggy Trahan Schexnaider and Lyndsey Romero. Offertory gifts will be brought up by granddaughters, Lorraine Guidry and Sarah Harrington. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Guidry, Samuel Romero, D.J. Harrington, Wayne LeMaire, Bob LeMaire and Terry Simon.

Mrs. LeMaire was a lifelong resident of Kaplan and a member of Holy Rosary Church. She retired from Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital after many years of service as a surgical nurse. She was a loving and nurturing caretaker to her husband and two sons as each one battled their own illnesses. She was a wonderful cook and loved to read. Enola also enjoyed her years as a member of the Cajun Quilters Guild, a group of ladies who enjoyed quilting as a hobby.

She is survived by her husband, Maxie J. LeMaire of Kaplan; one son, Harold LeMaire and his wife Rebecca of Lafayette; one daughter, Cheryl LeMaire Romero and her husband Donald of Abbeville; and daughter-in-law, Darlene LeMaire of Kaplan. She is also survived by one brother, Irby Champagne of Kaplan. Mrs. LeMaire has four grandchildren, Lorraine LeMaire Guidry and her husband Jason of Lafayette, Sarah Romero Harrington and her husband D.J. of Abbeville, Samuel Romero and his wife Lyndsey of Abbeville and Skye LeMaire of Kaplan. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Andrew, Olivia, and Sophie Guidry and Gabrielle, Grant, and Grace Harrington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Champagne and Alix Vincent Champagne; one brother, Loicey Champagne; her two beloved sons, Keith Joseph and Farron Anthony LeMaire; and one grandson, Blake LeMaire.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Thursday, June 11 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
