Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Velma Broussard Gaspard, 78, who died Monday, July 11, 2016 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.
She is survived by her son, Kendale Gaspard of Abbeville; two daughters, Sherin and her husband, Grady Dumond of Forked Island and Karen Gaspard of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Colby Dumond, Shaun Dumond, Bridget Simon, Britney Rogas, and Jonathan Gaspard; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Gaspard; one daughter, Marlene Gaspard; one granddaughter, Crystal Dumond; one great grandchild, Kegan Rogas; her parents, Adoise Broussard and the former Adana Lege; three sisters, Elma Baudoin, Eula Breaux, and Nomie Mallet; and one stepbrother, Clemile Baudoin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 8 a.m. until services with a rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.
