Bethel Rose "Lakey" Schriefer Schwartz

She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.
Lakey Schwartz was born in Perry, LA, on December 21, 1920. Her parents were Harry Schriefer and Mary Ella Broussard Schriefer. She graduated from Abbeville High and Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute (University of Louisiana at Lafayette). She was a teacher for three years at Perry, LA. In 1946, she married Morton Schwartz from California. Together they owned and operated Lady Lake Fashion Shop in Abbeville for over thirty years. After retirement, they traveled by motorhome throughout the United States and Canada.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ella Schriefer, her husband, Morton Schwartz, her infant daughter, Mary Ella Schwartz, and her two brothers, Wesley Schriefer and Malcolm “Mack” Schriefer.
She is survived by two nephews, Kash Schriefer of Monroe and Kip Schriefer of Maurice, and a niece, Vicki Schriefer Cormier of Maurice.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the administration and staff at Eastridge Assisted Living in Abbeville and the Heart of Hospice for their kindness, support, and care.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Abbeville United Methodist Church.
