Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Ruby Mire Venable, 84, who died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her residence.

She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Newman and her partner, Lorraine Hill of Lafayette; granddaughter, Annie Gaines and her husband, Jake of Duson; grandson, Conway Thibodeaux and his wife, Clarisse of Broussard; and sister, Annie Mae Edwards of Punta Gorda, FL.

She was preceded in death by parents, Portalice Mire and the former Olive Sonnier; former husband, Alton Louis Newman; and numerous siblings.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
