Gladys Marie Touchet Adams

April 5, 1920 — July 7, 2009

Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Gladys Marie Touchet Adams, 89, who died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at her residence.

She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Rev. Jason Vidrine officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Herman James Adams, Raymond John Adams, Neal Boudreaux, J. Craig Livingston, Everett J. Bonner Jr. and Manson Saltzman.

Gladys, known to those who loved her as “MaMa” was born April 05, 1920 and was a lifelong resident of Gueydan. She was a homemaker who spent her entire life caring for others. Ma Ma spent her life loving her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a special and remarkable woman whose life was an example of hard work, devotion and love.

She is survived by her two sons, Herman James Adams and his wife Angie of Abbeville and Raymond John Adams and his wife Jackie of Gueydan; four grandchildren, Sarah Jocelyn Adams Livingston and her husband J. Craig Livingston of Baton Rouge, Allyson Marie Adams Bonner and her husband Dr. Everett J. Bonner Jr. of Baton Rouge, Shana Rae Adams Boudreaux and her husband Neal Boudreaux of Gueydan and Barrett James Adams of Hammond; and ten great grandchildren, Abigail Marie Livingston, Leanne Adams Livingston and Ellen Craig Livingston, all of Baton Rouge, Everett James Bonner III, Sarah Isabelle Bonner and Adeline Touchet Bonner, all of Baton Rouge, Paige Katherine Boudreaux, Sadie Marie Boudreaux, Emily Nicole Boudreaux and Seth James Boudreaux, all of Gueydan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neelis James Adams; her parents, Enis Touchet and Edmonia Meaux Touchet; her brother, Floyd J. Touchet and his wife, Eza S. Touchet; and her sister Madeline Touchet.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 11 a.m until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, July 10, from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to her loving caregivers who cared for her duing her final days, Tam Saltzman, Juanette Belaire, Hattie Reese, Carol Smith and Tanya Vallo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hammond Strawberry Fields Inc., Post Office Box 218, Hammond, LA, an establishment for individuals with special needs, in honor of her grandson, Barrett Adams.
