Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Monday October 17, 2016 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Velta M. Gaspard, 90 years, who died Friday, October 14, 2016 at Kaplan Healthcare Center. She will be laid to rest at St. David Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Gaspard, Josh Gaspard, Cade Gaspard, Ethan Gaspard, Mathew Spell, Drake LeJeune, Hayden Smith, and Lander Gaspard. Honorary pallbearer will be Braxton Arceneaux.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Hubert J. Gaspard of Kaplan; four sons, Kenneth Gaspard and his wife, Lucille of Kaplan, Larry Gaspard and his wife, Helen of Kaplan, Carlen Gaspard and his wife, Charlene of Kaplan, and Donald Gaspard and his wife, Glena of Gueydan; one daughter, Cathy Gaspard of Kaplan; one sister, Mary Gaspard of Gueydan; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Meaux and the former Edna Hebert; one brother, Clifford Meaux; two sisters, Rexine Guilbeaux and Zula Hebert; and one great grandson, Grover Cleveland Crosby IV.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Sunday October 16, 2016 from 3 PM until 9 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6 PM; Monday, October 17, 2016 from 8 AM until services.
