Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2009 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eldie Pego Woods, 87, who died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at her residence in Gueydan. Mrs. Woods was born and resided in Gueydan, LA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. From tending to the flowers and gardening to visiting with family and friends she was always smiling, though her true joys came from feeding others, cooking and teaching the grandkids to do the same.

She is survived by her four children, Brenda and her husband Tommy of Lafayette, Farrell Woods and his wife Ina of Gueydan, Randy Woods and his wife Crissie of Gueydan and Cheryl and her husband Philip of Gueydan; thirteen grandchildren, Sonya and her husband Chris LeJeune, Angela Thibodeaux and her friend Cindy, Galen Simon and his wife Kami, Garret Simon and his wife Patricia, Byron Thackston, Philana and her husband Jace Melder, Peter Woods and his wife Emily, Seth Woods and his wife Jeanne, Sara and her husband Brent Simoneaux, Tasa Woods, Jesse Woods, Heidi and her husband Jimmie Cox and Leah Woods; and twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her late husband of 64 years, Joseph Loify Woods; and her parents, Eugene Pego and the former Alida Dupuis.

The time has come to let her go to the one we love above, in the mansion prepared with golden gates, to meet those she truly loved. And though she will be greatly missed by many, she will never be forgotten by any!

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, July 20, from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
