James Allen Belanger, Sr.
July 5, 1948 — October 18, 2016
James loved his wife, his children and sure enjoyed mentoring and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His main love second only to God was his family. James was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 2281 where he served as a past Grand Knight. James loved and cared dearly for his church, where he volunteered much of his time. His CB handle echoed that fondness as he was known as the “9-Speed.”
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anna B. Belanger; son, James A. Belanger, Jr. and his wife Lori of Lafayette; daughters, Jamie B. St. Germain and her husband Troy of Chantilly, VA, and Rhonda B. Clements and her husband Ernest of Sulphur, LA; sisters, Rayle Thibeaux of Abbeville and Loretta Duhon and her husband Lindy of Erath; four grandchildren, Kody J. Nugier, Heather Robertson, Randall C. Nugier and Lucille J. Belanger; and two great grandchildren, Gregory Conner II and Xavier Conner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raywood Joseph Belanger and the former Anna Mae Suire; brother, Arthur Ray Belanger; and great granddaughter, Enyo Conner.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Friday October 21, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M.; Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church.
