Abbeville-Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church honoring the life of Francis Ray Lachaussee, 86, who died Thursday, October 20, 2016.
He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Eric Lachaussee, Anthony Simon, Ryan Simon, Daniel Miller, Timmy Lachaussee, and Chris Lachaussee.
He was born and raised in Maurice, Louisiana, but was a long-time resident of Abbeville. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He worked in the retail appliance business for over 50 years and opened his own business, Francis’ G.E. Center in 1986. He leaves a wonderful legacy of love, respect and appreciation for his family as well as, many friends and customers. A great sports enthusiast, he especially enjoyed watching basketball and horse racing.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Simon; son, Owen Lachaussee and his wife, Abra; four grandchildren, Megan Lachaussee Miller and husband, Daniel, Eric Lachaussee and wife, Meghan, Anthony Simon and wife, Heather, and Ryan Simon and wife, Nicole; five great-grandchildren: Amalie and Evelyn Lachaussee, Emily and Madeline Simon and Sullivan Miller; one brother, Shelton Lachaussee, and one sister-in-law, Beverly B. Lachaussee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Jeanette Choate Lachaussee; his parents, St. Julien and Yolande B. Lachaussee, one brother, Lares Lachaussee; and one sister-in-law, Jessie Lachaussee.
His family expresses a heartfelt appreciation to his caregivers, Ms. Louella Hardy, Mrs. Pat, and Robin Broussard for the loving care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville on Sunday from 5 pm to 9 pm with a rosary prayed at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:30 am until time of service at 10:00 am.
