Ella Mae Benoit Dartez

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Ella Mae Benoit Dartez, 80, who died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

Mrs. Dartez was a secretary at Kaplan Rice Mill for over 40 years. She was then a secretary at Rene A. Rost Middle School before retiring. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Pere Maltrait #1445, Holy Rosary Ladies Altar Society, a faithful member of the Adoration Chapel, a eucharistic minister and a lector for Holy Rosary Cabrini Parish. She was also a eucharistic minister to shut ins. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3793 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 271.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Warren H. Dartez of Kaplan; five sisters, Juanita LeMaire Suire of Kaplan, Mary Ethel David of Kaplan, Carmen Guilbeaux of Lafayette, Jean Benoit of Lafayette, and Margaret Robertson of Kaplan; and one brother, Larry Benoit of Kaplan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysse Benoit and the former Anita Landry.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Thursday, July 23, from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
