John E. Abshire

March 22, 1940 — August 2, 2009

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of John Ernest Abshire, 69, who died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services.

He is survived by two sons, Kelly Abshire and his wife, Helen of Kaplan and Christy Abshire of Kaplan; one daughter, Melissa Abshire of Kaplan; one step-daughter, Tracy Abshire of Kaplan; three brothers, Steve Abshire, Fernest Abshire Jr. and Phillip Abshire, all of Kaplan; two sisters, Lorraine LeBlanc of Sulphur and Ella Rose Barber of Vinton; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernest Abshire Sr. and the former Eda Marceaux; and one daughter, Susan Abshire.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, August 3, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, August 4, from 8 a.m. until services.
