He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
He is survived by his spouse, Neila B. Bertrand; son, Richard Bertrand and his wife Lynette; step-children, Brenda Doucet, Thomas Wayne Doucet and Craig Doucet; grandson, Colby Bertrand; and sister, Elda Bertrand Neveaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Semar Bertrand and the former Lezada Trahan; daughter, Charlotte Bertrand, step-daughters, Peggy Frederick and Judy Aubin; brothers, Roy Bertrand and Walter Bertrand, Sr.; and sister, Hilda Labry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 PM.
