Marie Abshire

December 22, 1926 — August 20, 2009

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 2009 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church honoring the life of Marie Abshire, 82, who died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Reverend Don Leger officiating the services.

She is survived by three daughters, Lona Decuir and her husband, Odeon Fontenot Jr. of Kaplan, Ethel Decuir and her husband, Richard Lavigne Sr. of Kaplan, and Linda Decuir and her husband, John Fontenot Sr. of Kaplan; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lovelace Decuir; one son, Michael Decuir; one brother, Minus Abshire; and her parents, Ovey Abshire and the former Evita Duhon.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 11 a.m. until services, with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
