Nelson Blanchard

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Nelson Blanchard, 75, who died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Timmy Blanchard, Darren Blanchard, Chad Blanchard, Blake Blanchard, Nolan Sellers and Carroll Sellers.

He is survived by his three sons, Timmy Wayne Blanchard and wife Tommi of Oregon, John Darren Blanchard of Abbeville and Chad Nelson Blanchard and wife Nicole of Abbeville; daughter, Melanie Irene Blanchard of Abbeville; two brothers, Clifton Blanchard of Lafayette and Leonce Blanchard of Maurice; two sisters, Bea Richard of Lafayette and Elodie Tregle of Des Allemands; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marius Blanchard, Sr. and the former Lillia Trahan and brother, Marius Blanchard, Jr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, August, 29, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
