Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Rena Gaspard Leonard, 76, who died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Greene Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.


She is survived by two sons, Bradley Leonard of Cow Island and Roger Leonard and his wife, Tara of Cow Island; one daughter, Sandra Touchet and her husband, Avery of Cow Island; three sisters, Ruby Hargrave of Forked Island, Celestine McDaniel of Cow Island, and Velma Frederick of Forked Island; two brothers, William Gaspard of Cow Island and Pervis Gaspard of Kaplan; ten grandchildren, Kyla Leonard, Heather Baudoin, Brad Touchet, Brett Leonard, Emily Leonard, Bridget Simon, Adelle Trahan, Hollie Leonard, Richard Leonard, and Roland Leonard; and seven great grandchildren, Meredith Leonard, Brooklyn Simon, and Alli Simon, Mylee Leonard, Saylor Simon, Quinn Leonard, and Hayes Trahan.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Ednor Leonard; two sons, Roland and Richard Leonard; one granddaughter, Victoria Leonard; her parents, Edgar Gaspard and the former Lilly Touchet; three sisters, Gurdy Suire, Olite Gaspard, and Evelia Leonard; and two brothers, Edgar Gaspard Jr. and Edward Gaspard.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 3:30 PM until services on Thursday, March 23, 2017. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening.
