Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2009 at a 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church honoring the life of Ivy Joseph Richard, 88, who died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:15 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery with Rev. Charles Langlois officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Andy Richard, Ross Landry, Eric Richard, Clay Willis, Danny Richard and Glenn Lege.

Ivy was the founder and owner/operator of Ivy Richard Marina in Intracoastal City.

Ivy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dola Domingues Richard of Henry; his sons, Danny Richard and his wife Linda and Jimmy Richard and his wife Delores; two daughters, Kathy and her husband Clay Willis and Tammy and her husband Tim Landry; his daughter-in-law, Sue V. Richard and one sister, Lilly Cessac. At the time of his death, he had fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren with a new great grandchild due to be born on September 16.

Ivy was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Richard; four grandchildren, Rachel Richard, Jill Richard, Todd Richard and Bryant Vincent; his parents, Alphe and Ella Richard and brother, Murray Richard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, September 4, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Esther Cemetery Association, 317 Celeste Street, Abbeville, LA 70510, in memory of Ivy Richard.
