Cow Island—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Oris Joseph Barry, 95, a World War II Army Veteran, who died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. He will be laid to rest at St. Anne Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Harrington Barry of Kaplan; one sister, Margaret Barry Fox and her husband, William of Houston, TX; one brother, Bruno J. Barry of Lufkin, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Famo Barry and the former Frances Beard; two sisters, Laris Barry and her husband, Mayo Darling and Delta Barry and her husband, Adlar Landry; and one brother, Delton J. Barry and his wife, Alzira Landry Barry.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gueydan Memorial Guest Home, Jennifer with Heart of Hospice, Father Corey Campeaux, his special nurse, Karlie, Irene Rudd and her daughter, Tina, Glenn Prejean, Sandy Prejean, Kevin Cormier, and Audrey Cormier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 8:00 AM until services.
