Kaplan - Memorial services will be held at a later date honoring the life of Elton “Chick” Schexnider, 88 years old, who passed away peacefully at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 88.
Chick was born on February 14, 1929. A native of Crowley, LA and a resident of Kaplan, LA for 57 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Woodmen of the World. He also served in the United States National Guard for 10 years. Chick owned and operated Schexnider’s Upholstery for over 40 years.
He is survived by his children, Vicki and her husband, Jim Meaux, Jan and her husband, Larry Mayard, Craig “Chick” Schexnider and his wife, Nanette; his siblings, Audrey Weber, Deanna Myers, and Phyllis Walsh; 7 grandchildren, Kelly Meaux Potier and her husband, Martin, Heather Mayard Perrin her husband, Chip, Drewe Schexnider and his wife, Anika, Melana Schexnider Lemaire and her husband, Chris, Delana Schexnider and her fiance’, Jared Chaney, Jayde Mayard Ditch and her husband, Joshua, and Julien Schexnider; and 5 great grandchildren, Kade Stutes, Lily Grace Perrin, Sutton Schexnider, Dax Perrin, and Alexina Schexnider.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve "Genny" Schexnider; his parents, Alfred and Zula Mae Schexnider; his siblings, Melton Schexnayder, Margie Daugereau, Lorena Mould, and Candy Morgan.
