Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Mireille Julien Abshire, 94. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.
Mireille Julien Abshire returned to her heavenly home on June 18, 2017 at her home in Gueydan, LA. Her love and devotion to her family and unwavering faith is what ultimately gave her peace to move on to her Lord and Saviour.
Mireille was born in France on January 2, 1923 to Marcelle and Marguerite Julien. She was the younger sibling to a brother, Rene Julien. Mireille met her future husband, Manson Abshire at a community dance in Paris. They later married in New Orleans in 1946. A matrimonial bond that would come produce two beautiful little girls; first, Darleen and second, Carole. Her small family of four would come to provide her a small tribe. Five grandchildren, Chandler Crochet and his wife, Connie, Kalia Cormier and her husband, Josh, Christian Crochet, Alexandra Snell, and Darleen LeBlanc; nine great grandchildren, Lea, Phillip, Gabe, Kylie, Carslyn, Ava, Isaiah, Julia, and Jayden; five great-great grandchildren, Adalynn, Anna, Meredith, Hailee, and Hannah; and her nephew, Claude Julien.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manson Abshire; daughter Darleen Snell; brother, Rene Julien; parents, Marcel Julien and the former Marguerite Maury; and best friend, Paul Nau.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Monday, June 19, 2017 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church.
