Martin Marty Stroud

He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Msgr. Richard Mouton officiating the services. Pallbearers will be David Foote, Terry Broussard, Neal Broussard, Phillip Hoover, Michael E. Welch and Dr. Brian Baudoin.
Marty was born on February 8, 1966. He graduated from Vermilion Catholic in 1984 as valedictorian and received a B.S. Degree in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Psychology in 1989 from the University of Houston. Marty was always loyal to one company. When his dad (Dwight Stroud) fell sick he came back from Houston to run the family business, Stroud's Steakhouse in Lafayette. Stroud's was voted the number one steakhouse in America and Marty was honored as one of the top chefs in America. After the closing of Stroud's Steakhouse Marty pursued a career in the oilfield and practiced for his career in music.
He is survived by his parents, Margaret Bertrand Stroud and Dwight Stroud; his fiancee, Shawne Graffagnino of Lafayette; his godchild, Cassie Graffagnino of Catahoula and his beloved cats.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Agnes and Otis J. Bertrand, paternal grandparents, Mary Barnes and Martin Morell Stroud and first cousin, Brett Stroud.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, September 18, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
