Mary Turner Abshire

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Mary Turner Abshire, 63, who died Monday, September 21, 2009 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. She will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Deacon Paul Roy Eleazar officiating the services.

She is survived by four sons, Dwayne P. Abshire of Kaplan, James L. Abshire Sr. of Kaplan, Wilvern J. Abshire Jr. of New Iberia and Ricky D. Abshire of Forked Island; six daughters, Theresa A. Comeaux of Lafayette, Tina M. Stelly of Maurice, Sarah J. Broussard of Kaplan, Sondra F. Cormier of Maurice, Cathy G. Miller of Kaplan and Nicole K. Abshire of Kaplan; her mother, Neola B. Turner of Duson; four brothers, Joe Turner of Breaux Bridge, Johnny Turner of Duson, Harris Turner of Maurice and Michael Turner of Duson; one sister, Nancy Turner of Duson; twenty-four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilvern Abshire Sr.; her father, Wilson Turner; and one sister, Shirley Hebert.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Wednesday, September 23, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.; Thursday, September 24, from 8 a.m. until services.
