Growing up in the country near Abbeville, he developed a deep affection for this area and lived his full 89 years there. Abbeville is where he raised his family, made his friends and grew his businesses.

A love of flying began when, as a young boy he saw his first airplane. It was then that he knew he would one day fly and that passion remained with him through all of his life and his business ventures.

Revis married Lorraine Breaux, his high school sweetheart on August 15, 1941. That union lasted 65 years until her death in May-2007.

In 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps where he began his flying career training in the twin engine P-38 Lockheed Lightning which he would fly out of Foggia, Italy. He flew his 50 combat missions with the Hangman Squadron in his plane he named Scatterbrain Kid, a loving nickname for his wife, Lorraine. He returned from his tour of duty in 1945 at the rank of Captain.
Many years later Revis bought and restored another P-38, naming it Scatterbrain Kid. He proudly enjoyed flying and displaying Scatterbrain II in air shows across the county.

After the war he worked for the Godchaux family at Louisiana State Rice Mill but soon his romance with airplanes returned when he and Chris Crusta formed an agricultural crop dusting service to plant and spray crops for local farmers.

A true entrepreneur, Mr. Sirmon saw an opportunity to start an oilfield service company, Coastal Mud in 1954 and in 1958 began a glycol distribution business called Coastal Chemical Company. That Abbeville, Louisiana based company grew to become a giant in the hydrocarbon processing industry with stock points in several locations across the United States. Over his years in business, Revis owned and flew many corporate airplanes using them as an integral component of his business.

Today Coastal Chemical is an operating company of Brenntag, the global leader in chemical distribution. Coastal celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in July 2008.

Mr. Sirmon has a long history of community involvement. Some of his affiliations included The Abbeville Kiwanis Club, Member of the Abbeville Masonic lodge #192 for 63 years, belonged to The lake Charles Scottish Rite for 40 years, belonged to York Rite Bodies for 55 years, belonged to The Shiners' for 52 years, Served on the Louisiana State Mineral Board, Board of Directors for the First National Bank of Lafayette, member of The Confederate Air Force, instrumental in founding The City Club of Lafayette, Board of Directors of the Military Museum/Hall of Fame at Chris Crusta Memorial Airport in Abbeville Louisiana, Abbeville Pioneer of the Year Award 2001, Cattle Festival King 2007.
His latest community project was the cleanup of Graceland Cemetery and creation of a perpetual fund for its upkeep.

Mr. Sirmon has just complete his book of memoirs "The Eternal Pilot" which is due to be published at the end of October.
