Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19, 2009 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Edlar J. Hebert, 95, who died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

Mr. Hebert was the owner of Hebert’s Grocery Store in Kaplan for thirty years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. After his retirement, Mr. Hebert was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church and would often serve daily Mass.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Lillian Broussard Hebert of Kaplan; one son, Charles Hebert of Lafayette; three brothers, Albert Hebert of Lafayette, Lawrence Hebert of Maurice, and Nolton Hebert of New Iberia; and three sisters, Emedia H. Vincent of Abbeville, Regina H. Girouard of Maurice and Mildred H. Trahan of Maurice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeneus Hebert; one brother, Nole Hebert; and two infant sons, Harris and Willard Hebert.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, October 19, from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
