Simon Weston Guidry

September 24, 1922 — November 5, 2009

Abbeville— Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Simon Weston Guidry, 87, who died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Abbeville General Hospital.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services.

Mr. Guidry was a veteran of WWII served in the Pacific (Late, Manila, Okinawa and Japan) with the 11th Airborne Division, 187th Regiment. When he completed his tour of duty in 1946 he began working with Superior Oil Co. where he worked as a mechanic for 30 years.

He is survived by a son, Thomas James Guidry of Ridge; a daughter, JoAnn Guidry Martello and husband Carlo Martello, Jr. of Abbeville; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Durr Guidry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar and Nolia Brasseaux Guidry; four brothers, Murphy, Woodley, Emery and Kermit Guidry; two sisters, Verna Blanchette and Ina Guidry.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The family will reopen on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
