Ruby Broussard Nunez

July 7, 1941 — November 18, 2009

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at a 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Ruby Broussard Nunez, 68, who died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services.

Ruby was a retired teacher/librarian with the Vermilion Parish School Board having worked at Forked Island/E. Broussard Elementary School and Herod Elementary School. She was a member of the (VAE) Vermilion Association of Education and (LAE) Louisiana Association Education. Ruby was an avid gardener and member of the Abbeville Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald M. Nunez; four sons, Bret Nunez and wife Rhonda, Matt Nunez and wife Gwyn, Clint Nunez and Seth Nunez; one daughter, Romy Broussard and husband Luke; parents, Lauris Broussard and the former Earline Dyson; one brother, Wesley Broussard and eight grandchildren, Jake Broussard, Blair B. Suire, Ty Broussard, Lexie Nunez, Dylan Nunez, Ross Nunez, Evan Nunez and Addison Nunez.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, November 20, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
