Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Herbert "Daby" Gaspard Sr., 79, who died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Kaplan Healthcare Center. He will be laid to rest at LeMaire Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Gaspard, Cody Gaspard, Cody Lebeouf, Craig Perry, Clint Meaux, and Lucas Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Fowler and Eric Primeaux.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lee Joyce Schexnaider Gaspard of Kaplan; four sons, Ronald Gaspard and his wife Josephine of Many, Daniel Gaspard and his wife Debbie of Forked Island, Bradley Gaspard and his wife Tammy of Broussard and Herb Gaspard and his wife Donna of Kaplan; three brothers, Lurcy "Black" Gaspard of Cow Island, Percy Gaspard of Forked Island and John Flemon "Pim" Gaspard of Perry; one sister, Millie Frith of Kaplan; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustave "T-Tave" Gaspard and the former Azita Lege; three brothers, George "Tobee" Gaspard, Minos "T-tout" Gaspard and Ravis "Cashew" Gaspard; and one daughter, Gloria Gaspard Abshire.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, November 25, from 8 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
