Funeral services will be held Monday, June 19, 2006 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Catholic Church honoring the life of Elmer “Fudge”
Hebert, 63, who died June 15, 2006 at his residence.
He will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery Mausoleum in Erath with Father Joe Breaux officiating the services.
Elmer was a Vietnam veteran. He worked at Diamond Crystal Salt Mine for 16 years, until it closed. He was then employed by Mobil Oil Company for 15 years, until his retirement. He then worked for Petro Rentals, Inc. for 5 years.
Elmer had a deep apreciation for his cajun heritage and a great love for cajun music. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra Broussard Hebert of Abbeville; three daughters, Michelle Hebert and her fiancee, M. Charles Broussard of Abbeville, Andrée Hebert and her fiancee Gene Lormand of Abbeville and Noel(Hebert)
Boudreaux and her husband Karl of Prairieville; eight grandchildren, Blake and Heather Blanchard, Blair Detraz, Carly and Drake Vaughn, Haili, Dylan and Kade
Boudreaux; and one great grandchild, Jordan Blanchard; one sister, Simone Hebert
and friend, Jody Mittiga of Erath; three brothers, Randolph Hebert and his wife,
Carolyn of Lafayette, Paul Hebert and his wife, Jody of Lafayette and Jeffery Hebert
and his wife, Sherry of Erath.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felton P. “Buzz” Hebert; and his
mother, Marguerite T. Hebert.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Hebert, Paul Hebert, Jeff Hebert, Robert
Hebert, Russell Prados and Blake Blanchard. Honoree pallbearers will be Dylan and
Kade Boudreaux, Carly and Drake Vaughn.
The family request that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of
Abbeville, 209 South Saint Charles Street, Abbeville, Sunday, June 18th from 10:00
a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, June 19th from
8:00 a.m. until time of services.
