Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Vincent Funeral Home Chapel for Phillip “P.J.” Abate Jr., 65 of Abbeville, who died Saturday June 17, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery with Deacon Chris Mouton officiating.
Pallbearers will be members of the Abbeville Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Glenda Sellers Abate; three sons, Brian, Jason and Benji Abate; three daughters, Angela Guidry, Christine Abate, and Tiffany Abate; one sister, Frances Abate, and six grandchildren
Mr. Abate will be sadly missed by his pride and joy, his grandson, Kagan Ash Abate, who brought so much joy to his last year.
“P.J.” retired as Captain with the Abbeville fire department after 35 years of service, and he was the owner of A & M water softeners.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Abate Sr.; mother, Jennie Ognibene Abate; and his in-laws, Frances and Dalton P. Sellers.
The family request visiting hours be observed Monday, June 19 from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
