Richard Dale Abshire

January 28, 1953 — December 13, 2009

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Richard Dale Abshire, 56, who died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeremy Abshire of Denver, Colorado and Ardy Abshire of Maurice; three brothers, Alvis Abshire and his wife, Ethel of Bossier City, Gerald "Doc" Abshire of Arizona and Russell Abshire and his wife, Callie of Kaplan; two sisters, Linda Joyce Abshire and her companion, Fernest Mouton of Kaplan and Ellen and her husband, Eldridge Menard of Kaplan; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Abshire; his parents, Pierre Abshire and the former Hazel Hebert; and two brothers, Wesley Pierre Abshire and Mahlan Joseph Abshire.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 8 a.m. until services.
