Joseph Nelson Mire

September 23, 1919 — December 19, 2009

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21, 2009 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Joseph Nelson Mire, 90, who died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Maison du Monde Living Center.

He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Father Brad Guillory officiating the services.

He is survived by a son, Eugene David Mire; two daughters, Cynthia Dingus and husband Terry of Loves Park, Ill and Cindy Louis and husband Dale of Machesney Ill; grandson, Allen Dingus and wife Lisa of South Deloit, Ill; a granddaughter, Hannah Louis; great grandchildren, Voe, Kyle, Isiah and Piper; and sisters, Annie Mae Edward of Punta Garda, FL, Dorothy Rose Vincent of Kaplan and Ruby Newman of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Portalice and Olive Sonnier Mire; wife, Mildred Jenkins Mire; son, Michael Mire; brothers; Calice, Louis, Roman and Percy Mire; and sisters, Ezora Adams, Adez Dugas, Solange Guidry and Laurice Barry.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The family will reopen on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
