Alta Broussard Touchet

October 4, 1923 — January 4, 2010

God saw he was getting tired

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Vincent Funeral Home – Abbeville, honoring the life of Alta Broussard Touchet, 86, who died Monday, January 4, 2010 at Abbeville General Hospital.

She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Gooch, II, Anthony Blanchard, Shane Meaux, Travis Gaspard, Phillip Blanchard and Seth Dubois. Honorary pallbearers include Randal Dubois and Pat Baudoin.

Alta was a former member of Abbeville General Volunteers and Woodmen of the World Lodge.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Gooch and husband Robert of Abbeville, Melba Jane Blanchard and husband Ivy "Cotton" of Abbeville and Marlyn T. Meaux and husband Tim of Abbeville; one brother, Isaac Broussard of Abbeville; grandchildren, Robert Gooch, II of Erath, Stephanie Dubois of Abbeville, Stacie Baudoin of Abbeville, Dr. Anthony I. Blanchard of Lafayette, Shane P. Meaux of Abbeville and Chrystal M. Gaspard of Abbeville and sixteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Touchet; parents, Noah Broussard and the former Edna Trahan; grandson, Christopher I. Blanchard and siblings, Alice Boudreaux, Anna Hunt, Hortense Bertrand and Alton Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, January 4, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
