Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Viola LeBlanc Melancon, 80, who died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.
She is survived by five sons, Stanford Melancon of Kaplan, Rayland Melancon of Gueydan, Daniel Melancon of Shreveport, Russell Melancon of Kaplan and Gerald Melancon of Cameron; two daughters, Linda M. Pater of Tallahassee, Florida and Laura Hebert of Kaplan; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Melancon; two grandchildren, Seth and Derek Melancon; her parents, Fernest LeBlanc and the former Odide Cormier; one sister, Laurence LeBlanc; and one half-brother, Henry LeBlanc.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m.; Friday, February 12, from 8 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for church.
