Opta Broussard

Mr. Broussard died at 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Norris Granger, his wonderful caretakers.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie J. Broussard and his wife Madeleine of Abbeville, and Sammy Broussard and his wife Phyllis of Maurice; seven daughters, Goldie Bergeron and her husband Leo of Abbeville, Germaine Sonnier and her husband John, Mary Granger and her husband Norris, and Sandra Meche, all of Maurice, Janelle Vice and her husband Kenneth, and Marilyn Vreeland of Lafayette, Debbie Warner and her husband Frank of Pineville; one brother, Mr. Dave Broussard of Meaux; and one sister, Mrs. Eula Broussard of New Iberia; thirty-five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Ida Duhon; two daughters, Sally Ann Broussard and Rexine Duhon; a grandson, John Kent Sonnier; his parents, O’Neil Broussard and Ophelia Trahan; three sisters, Rosita Simon, Lizzie Lormand and an infant; four brothers, Necess Broussard, Elias Broussard, Eddie O. Broussard and Edia Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bergeron, Brian Broussard, Cory Granger, Shannon Duhon, Jason Vice and Karl Meche.
The family request that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 South Saint Charles Street, Abbeville, Wednesday will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Acadian Home Health Care for their wonderful care they gave our father.
