John Rodney Simon

October 14, 1921 — February 23, 2010

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of John Rodney Simon, 88, who died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Leroy Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

He is survived by one son, Roland Simon and his wife, Barbara of Kaplan; one daughter, Kay and her husband, Larry Gaspard of Kaplan; four grandchildren, David and Christine Simon, Dustin and Spencer Gaspard, all of Kaplan; five great grandchildren, Kalyn Simon, Rory Robinson, Tre' Hollier, Kali Gaspard and Ethan Gaspard, all of Kaplan; and one great-great grandchild, Emmitt Robinson of Kaplan; four brothers, J. Houston Simon and John Curtis Simon, both of Kaplan, Claude Simon Jr. of Abbeville and Allen Simon of Maurice; and three sisters, Willa Simon of Kaplan, Mary Lee Meaux of New Roads and Dorothy Werth of Kaplan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Landry Simon; his son, Russell Simon; his parents, Claude Simon and the former Louise Meaux; two brothers; two brothers, Wilfred Simon and Horace Simon; and one sister, Margaret Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, February 24, from 8 a.m. until services.
