Cletus J. "C.J." Touchet
March 31, 1939 — March 3, 2010
Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville with Fr. Kenneth Mayne conducting services.
Pallbearers are his sons, Cody, Christopher and Shawn Touchet; grandsons, Ryan Benson and Jace Breaux and brother-in-law Scott Menard. Honorary pallbearers will be Brody Guidry and Tyler Campbell.
A native of Meaux, LA, C.J. Touchet was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. Everyone who knew him will never forget his laughter and sense of humor. He was a fun loving jokester who will be sadly missed forever.
He worked in the oilfield and owned & operated his own business before retiring. He was an avid sports fan and coach. C.J. coached many youth sports teams for many years in Lafayette and Abbeville winning numerous awards. He donated his time and loved coaching Biddy Basketball traveling around the state with All Star basketball players. His teammates always called him "Coach" and loved him dearly. C.J. loved his players as much, if not more than the game.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Menard Touchet; three sons, Cody Touchet, Christopher Touchet and Shawn Touchet; three daughters, Mrs. Darryl (Kitty) Thompson, Mrs. Brent (Robin) Benson, and Mrs. Shawn (Jamie) Breaux; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. John Exie (Lou Ella) Cormier, Mrs. Curtis (Laura Belle) Loignon, Mrs. Albert (Ella Mae) Delahoussaye, Mrs. Howard (Jeanne)Oliver, Mrs. George (Edlay) Bodin and Mrs. J.C. (Alice) Comeaux.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cletus Touchet; his mother, Alice Simon Touchet; twin brothers, Harry & Harris Touchet; brother, Roy Touchet; and sister, Mrs. Dudley (Nona) Romero.
Pallbearers are his sons, Cody, Christopher and Shawn Touchet; grandsons, Ryan Benson and Jace Breaux and brother-in-law Scott Menard. Honorary pallbearers will be Brody Guidry and Tyler Campbell.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday March 5, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. The rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m.
