Odilon "Junior" Marceaux, Jr.

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Odilon Marceaux, Jr., 64, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Greg Limscomb, Floyd LaPointe, Jr., Purvis Hebert, Jean Paul Perrodin, John Glenn Broussard and Vann Fortier. Honorary pallbearers will be Draik Delino and Dr. Robert Bourge.

After his love for his family, Jun's deep passion for his beloved Cajun heritage was the story of his life. Serving his friends, neighbors and everyone in his beloved Vermilion Parish was more than a career - it was his passion. His wonderful optimistic, "joie de vie" and desire to help these people was a lifelong mission. Jun never met a stranger and anyone who ever met him became his "couzzan" and come away with a smile and an enlightened love and appreciation of the Cajun culture and its people.

He served the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for 33 years, working with the local DARE and 4-H youth groups showing them the wonderful aspects of Louisiana's beautiful marshes and wildlife. At the young age of 20, he became the Supervisor of the Lake Fearman Refuge where he worked closely with the local law enforcement and U.S. Customs. He finished his career of serving his beloved Vermilion Parish people working 12 years at Bay City Ford where he was consistently named outstanding achiever in the company.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kay Marceaux; their four children, Jubal Marceaux and his wife, Alison of Lake Charles, Jada Marceaux of Abbeville, Kasha LaPointe and her husband, Floyd of Meaux and Kane Marceaux of Lafayette; five grandchildren, McKenzie Marceaux, Linsay Marceaux, Rynn Marceaux, Draik Delino and Kenedi LaPointe; brother, Gabriel Marceaux and his wife, Florence of Kaplan; five sisters, Nellie M. Pierce of Abbeville, Mary Lee M. Hebert of Lafayette, Martha M. Lee and her husband, David of Kaplan, Evelyn M. Duhon and her husband, Dudley of Kaplan and Roberta M. Duvernay and her husband, Marvin of Amite; and his loyal K-9 daughter, "Sweet Pea".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odilon Marceaux, Sr. and the former Lucie Broussard; and one sister, Maude Fontenot.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at noon.

His family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Lafayette General Hospital and Dr. Robert Bourge and his wife, Tessie of Birmingham. Alabama.
