Joseph William Meaux
Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Joseph William Meaux, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville. Mr. Meaux will be laid to rest in the cemetery in Leroy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mildred Iandimarino Meaux; and his four children, son William and daughter-in-law, Mary, of Fairfax, Virginia, daughter Leslie of Strasburg, Virginia, son David and daughter-in-law, Leslie of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and daughter Francesca and son-in-law Joseph of Hackensack, New Jersey, seven grandchildren, Emily, David, Daniel, Abigail, Thomas, Rachel, and Joseph, three brothers, Dudley Meaux and Eustis Meaux of Abbeville, and Leo Meaux of Lafayette, and one sister, Joyce Meaux of Abbeville and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meaux was preceded in death by his parents, Eldora Menard Bourque and Ophe Meaux.
Mr. Meaux traveled the world as an international purser with TWA until 1970 when he retired from the airlines. He started Iberia Travel in New Iberia, Louisiana shortly after his retirement. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. A military honor guard will participate in Mr. Meaux’s funeral service on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be David Meaux, William Meaux, Joseph Wolverton, David Holt, Anthony Meaux, and Michael Meaux. Honorary pallbearers will Eustis Meaux, Dudley Meaux, Leo Meaux, and Ray Meaux.
Visitation will be observed from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. services on Tuesday at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles St., Abbeville. A rosary and memorial service will commence at 1 p.m.
