Charles Lee Pierce

July 2, 1922 — April 28, 2010

—Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Charles Lee Pierce, 87, who died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Abbeville General Hospital.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Mausoleum with Father William Blanda officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Lee Allen "Skippy" Pierce, David Pierce, Anthony Awwad, Charles Awwad, Joseph Smalley and Ayman Quaddumi.


Mr. Pierce was vice chairman of Abbeville Savings and Loan having served longer than any other member. He served for over 30 years. Mr. Pierce retired as the trucking supervisor from Riviana Foods with over 38 years of service.

A veteran of WWII serving with the 8th air force stationed in England.


He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Richey Pierce of Perry; one son, Lee Allen "Skippy" Pierce and his wife Kempa Hunt of Sulphur; grandchildren, Elizabeth Smalley and her husband Joseph, Christina Quaddumi and her husband Ayman, Gina Awwad, Nabeel Musaed, Charles Awwad, Anthony Awwad, Jennifer Pierce, and David Pierce and wife Amanda; great grandchildren, Brittany Chappell, Nicholas Smalley, Nadia Musaed, Jude Quadduni, William Ryan Pierce, Ava Pierce and Rhiahnan Pierce.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Pierce Awwad; and infant son; parents, Henry Hudson Pierce and the former Rita LeBlanc; brothers Gilbert Pierce, Henry Pierce and James Pierce; and one sister, Ethel Cormier.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until service time.

The family of Mr. Pierce would like to thank Dr. Phillip Noel, Dr. Jeffery Thibodeaux, Dr. Ronald Lahasky, the staff at Eastridge Nursing home and the staff of Abbeville General Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations may do so to Mt. Carmel Elementary School or the building fund at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
