Juanita Benoit Lemaire Suire

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, May 3, 2010 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Juanita Benoit LeMaire Suire, 78, who died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Alexandria surrounded by her family. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Martin Laird officiating the services.

Mrs. LeMaire Suire retired from Kaplan State Bank in 1996 as Sr. Vice President after 48 years of service to the bank and community. She was a past Grand Regent and District Deputy Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Pere Maltrait #1445, past member Maltrait Christian Mother’s Club, past Council member of Maltrait School Board, past president and treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3793, past treasurer of Vermilion Parish Heart Association, and past board member of the Bayou Girl Scout Council. She was chosen as Chez Elles citizen of the year in 1970. Juanita was an Our Lady of Holy Rosary Eucharistic Minister, past council member Holy Rosary Church parish, member Holy Rosary Adoration Chapel, and member Ladies Alter Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Ellen and her husband, Lynn Seymore of Colorado, and Christine and her husband, Dr. Stuart Head of Alexandria, Louisiana; and one son Marcus and wife, Tracy LeMaire of Lafayette, Louisiana. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Charlotte and her husband, Joey Bourque of Kaplan and Mary and her husband, Mike Adam of Texas; three stepsons, Charles and his wife, Danielle Suire of Kaplan, Billy and his wife, Martha Suire of Lafayette, and Riis and his wife, Lisa Suire of Denham Springs, Louisiana. She had seven grandchildren, Marcie and her husband, Johnathan Wohr of Texas, Jameson and his wife, Tiffany Guidry of Kaplan, and Barrett and his wife, Cale Guidry of Kaplan, Sara, Camille, and Cole Head of Alexandria, and Avery LeMaire of Lafayette. She has five great grandchildren and twenty-four step-grandchildren.

Mrs. LeMaire Suire is also survived by four sisters, Ethel David of Kaplan, Carmen Guilbeaux and Patsy Jean Benoit, both of Lafayette, and Margaret Robertson of Kaplan; and one brother, Larry Benoit of Kaplan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysse and Anita Landry Benoit; her first husband, Millage LeMaire; her second, husband William "Bill" Suire Jr.; her daughter, Cheryl LeMaire Guidry, her son-in-law, Steve Guidry; her sister, Ella Mae Dartez; and one step-granddaughter Dorie Suire.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, May 3, from 10 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
