Nancy Dean Whatley Marceaux

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Kaplan Baptist Church honoring the life of Nancy Dean Whatley Marceaux, 59, who died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Noah Langley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Whatley, Jerry Whatley, Norris Grabert, Jake Whatley, Josh Whatley and Jordan Whatley. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Whatley.

Nancy was a Home Economics teacher in Vermilion Parish for 35 years. She was a dear friend and mentor to all who had the opportunity to meet her. She became very close to her students, touching the lives of many. She loved sewing and cooking and loved passing her wonderful gifts on to her students. She owned AGAA Wedding Veils and Embroidery, where for the last 11 years, she was able to show off her beautiful sewing talents. Nancy was also a 4-H leader and a member of the Kaplan Baptist Church.

Above being a kind and sincere person who was so dear to her students and friends, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Her grandchildren were most dear to her. She lived for her family and enjoyed spending many hours with them. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by one son, Gabe Marceaux and his wife Richelle of Kaplan; three daughters, Ali and her husband, Ryan Hebert, Amber and her husband, Cedric Primeaux and Ashlee Marceaux, all of Kaplan; three brothers, Tommy Whatley of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Jim Whatley of Doss, Texas and Jerry Whatley of Iowa; one sister, Sylvia Grabert of New Iberia; and eight grandchildren, Gage Marceaux, Lane Marceaux, Gabrielle Marceaux, Ellie Marceaux, Owen Marceaux, Aneliese Hebert, Ava Hebert and Hallie Primeaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duffy Gerard Marceaux Jr. and her parents, James Phynn Alexander Whatley and the former Esther Belle Shively.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Sunday, May 16, from 9 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
