Abbeville- A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday September 26th, 2006 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church for Paul Daniel Landry, 68, who died on Saturday, September 23rd, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Internment will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dolores Broussard; four children, Mitchell Landry and his wife Sandy, Sherie Burkart and her husband Ray, David Landry and his wife Rachel, Gabrielle Landry and her fiancee’ Francois Chauppuis; four stepchildren, Todd LaPorte and his wife Michelle, Troy LaPorte and his wife Laurie, Michelle E. LaPorte, and Danielle David and her husband Lance; ten grandchildren, Amanda Landry, Sarah and Joshua Burkart, Aiden Landry, Alexandre Landry, Lauren and Mark LaPorte, Aaron, Caroline, and Grant David; and one brother, John Emery Landry and his wife Beverly.
Mr. Landry was born in Patoutville, Louisiana on August 10, 1938, moving to Abbeville as a young boy. Mr. Landry co-founded Deep South Financial Services and Southland Finance in 1983. He also, along with his brother John, established Copy Services in May, 1993.
Mr. Landry, on November 26th, 1989, had a heart transplant at Ochsner Hospital, remaining until his death, one of the longest surviving heart recipients from Ochsner.
He was a member of the Louisiana Financial Association. He was past executive vice president of the Abbeville Country Club, where he enjoyed his great passion for golf. He was a past member of the Abbeville Rotary Club.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Landry, David Landry, Todd LaPorte, Troy LaPorte, Lance David, Ray Burkart, John Emery Landry, Chris Burkenstock and Bill Tribaldos, III.
Visitation will be held on Monday September 25th, 2006 from 1:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. with a rosary at 7:00p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, and will resume on Tuesday September 26th, 2006 from 8:00a.m. until time of services.
