A native of Cow Island and a resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Bouillion passed away at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2010, at Abbeville General Hospital with family members at her side. Her childhood years were spent in Cow Island and New Iberia. She received her education degree in 1935 from the Southwestern Louisiana Institute, which is currently the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She then began her career as an elementary school teacher at E. Broussard School in Cow Island where she taught for 36 years, from 1935 until 1971. She was much beloved by the many hundreds of students whose lives she touched. Mrs. Bouillion always had a way of showing genuine interest in knowing all about the families and lives of everyone that she knew. She enjoyed participating in her sewing club and socializing with friends in her card playing group. We were blessed to have her with us for 94 years and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Ricky Bouillion and his wife, Shirleen, of Abbeville; two daughters Priscilla B. Porche and her husband Charles, of New Iberia, Ellen B. Faugot and her husband, Maurice, of New Iberia; her sister Corine Romero, of Abbeville; her grandchildren Matthew Bouillion, Jeb Bouillion, Julie B. Todesco, Stephanie P. Williams, Gretchen P. Jefferies, Seth Porche, Garret Faugot, Bridget F. Helm, Allison Faugot; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years C. J. Bouillion; her father Raoul Couvillon; her mother Lucy Broussard Couvillon; her brothers Roy Couvillon, Earl Couvillon, Harold Couvillon, and Andrew Couvillon.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Bouillion, Jeb Bouillion, Seth Porche, Garret Faugot, Charlie Williams, Spencer Jefferies, Mitchell Jefferies, and Jonathan Markam.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to those who helped care for her including the staff at East Ridge and Abbeville General Hospital. We are especially grateful for the love shown to her by her sister Corine and her family.
