Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Gavin Eugene Overley, 10, who died Monday, May 31, 2010 at Tulane Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Jason Vidrine officiating the services.

He is survived by his father, Clifford "Kip" Overley and his wife, Heidi of Gueydan; his mother, Rachel Reese of Gueydan; two sisters, Brittany and Tori Spears, both of Gueydan; two stepbrothers, Trevor and Caleb Ladelle, both of Gueydan; paternal grandparents, Roy Overley Jr. and Irene L. Overley of Gueydan; maternal grandfather, Dennis Reese of New Waverly, Texas; maternal great grandmother, Hattie Reese of Gueydan; uncles, Roy Overley III of Gueydan, Charlie McDaniel of Gueydan, Joey Reese of New Waverly, Texas and Wyte Reese of New Waverly, Texas; aunts, Melissa Scanlan and her husband, Michael of Iota, Julie Ellisor of New Waverly, Texas and Vashti Reese of New Waverly, Texas; and his godmother, Cynthia Abshire and her husband, Howard of Gueydan.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dana Broussard McDaniel.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 5 p.m. until services which will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010. A rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m.
