Abbeville—Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Joseph Roland Gaspard, Jr., 56, who died Friday, May 28, 2010 in Africa.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Mr. Gleen Faul officiating the services.

Joseph was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who had a great love of music and a weakness for books and reading. He loved to travel with his wife and they shared his love of the water.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ellsberry Gaspard of Lafayette; three sons, Joseph "Joe" Gaspard, III, Mark Anderson and John Anderson and wife Heidi all of Lafayette; two daughters, Kara Linyard and husband Michael of Denham Springs and Michelle Smith and husband Jeff of Butte La Rose; father, Joseph R. Gaspard, Sr.; mother, Joyce Connor Meaux; three brothers, Chris Gaspard and wife Debbie, Vance Gaspard and Tim Gaspard; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston J. and Anna Belle P. Gaspard; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sydney J. and Lillie P. Connor; and a brother, Charles B. Gaspard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.. The family will reopen Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
