J. Learnie Vincent

December 22, 1925 — June 17, 2010

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph Learnie Vincent, 84, who died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

Mr. Learnie was a veteran of the United States Navy who served our country during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus Council 2913, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Guidry-Hebert Post #3793. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Cabrini Parish and a member of the Holy Name and St. Joseph Society. He was an ambulance driver and a funeral director for Vincent Funeral Home for 42 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florence "Flo" Vincent of Kaplan; one son, Kenneth L. Vincent and his wife, Virginia of Monroe; one grandson, Ryan Joseph Vincent of Atlanta, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Euchariste Vincent and the former Eva Prejean.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 19, from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
