Ellis Dehart

October 30, 1926 — July 8, 2010

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. , Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Ellis DeHart, 83, who died , July 8, 2010, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Noah Langley officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Justin DeHart, Jacob DeHart, Kevin Smith, Travis Smith, Johnny Gerard and David DeHart. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Bailey, Mark Bailey, Kyle Kipp, Miles Hulin, Randy Vice and Braxton Hulin.


Ellis was retired from Tretrolite Chemical as a chemical blender. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served our country during World War II.


He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Demette DeHart; children, Darlene Rauch of Youngsville, Donna DeHart of Maurice, David DeHart and his wife Lisa of Maurice, Dana Hulin and husband Miles of Meaux; two sisters, Elvina Bailey and Lucille Luquette; eleven grandchildren, Jamie Vice and her husband Randy, Jr, Kevin Smith and his wife Angie, Travis Smith and his wife Kara, Justin DeHart and his wife Heather, Jacob DeHart, Alicia Gerard, Johnny Gerard and his wife Patricia, Kyle Kipp, Daisy Bryan, Dalana Bryan and Braxton Hulin; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham DeHart and the former Caroline Lee; and one brother, Hartwell DeHart.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. and will remain open until time of services on Saturday.
