Helen Margaret Menard Abshire

August 29, 1941 — July 12, 2010

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, July 16, 2010 at a 2:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Helen Margaret Menard Abshire, 68, who died Monday, July 12, 2010 at her residence.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Brad Guillory officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Billy Falcon, Craig Broussard, Kermit Abshire, Andrew Abshire, Joshua Connor and Tory Mouton.

She is survived by her husband, Loycie Jean "L.J." Abshire; one son, Kermit Luke Abshire of Abbeville; two daughters, Tanya A. Falcon and her husband Billy of Abbeville and Claudette "Kim" A. Broussard and her husband Craig of Abbeville; one sister, Bonnie Menard of Abbeville; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcel Menard and the former Mary Lorenia Milleman; maternal grandparents, Onezie Milleman and the former Celina Cormier; paternal grandparents, Marcelus Menard and the former Aliceia Sherman; three brothers, Robert Menard, George Menard and Henry Menard; and two sisters, Lee Alice M. Darby and Delta M. Darby.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, July 16, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
