Fay Cole Deshotels

August 8, 1918 — July 15, 2010

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Kaplan United Methodist Church honoring the life of Fay Cole Deshotels, 91, who died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Eastridge Assisted Living Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Larry Maxwell officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Edward Savoy of Lake Charles, Richard Savoy of Lake Charles, Charles Deshotels of Lafayette, Mike Deshotels of Lafayette, Bill Deshotels of Mary Ester, Florida and Schel Reaux of Kaplan. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Maraist of Baton Rouge, Robert Comeaux of Houston, Texas, Herschel Reaux of Kaplan, Tim Kane of Monroe and Richard LeBeouf of Maurice.

Fay graduated from Ruston High School and later attended LA Tech at Ruston where she studied Home Economics. She moved to Kaplan after her marriage to Judge O.H. Deshotels Jr. They were married for more than 60 years. She was a charter member of Kaplan's Mardi Gras Krewe Chic-a-la-Pie and the Kaplan Garden Club.

She is survived by son, O.H. (Henri) Deshotels III and wife, Carol Ann H. Deshotels of Kaplan; daughter, Sandra C. Reaux and husband, Herschel A. Reaux of Kaplan; son, Shelly F. Deshotels of Lafayette; grandchildren, Courtney Reaux LeBeouf and husband, Richard of Maurice, Aimee Deshotels Kane and husband, Tim of Monroe, Virginia Reaux and Natalie Deshotels Montgomery, both of Lafayette and Herschel Reaux II of Kaplan; and one great grandson, Thomas M. Montgomery of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge O.H. Deshotels Jr.; her parents, Ernest Palmer Cole Sr. and Ella Greene Cole of Ruston; brother, Ernest P. Cole Jr. of Sunset; and both sisters, Ethel Cole Savoy of Lake Charles and Virginia Cole Deshotels of Kaplan.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.; and on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
