Entombment will be held at a later date at St. Paul Cemetery.

Officiating the services will be Father Paul Broussard and Father Joseph Stemmann. Scriptural readers are Judy Broussard and Jackson Moss, gift bearers are Brooks Bertrand and Barrett Bertrand.

A lifelong resident of Abbeville, Boz, as he was known to many who knew him, was a loving son, brother and uncle, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Barbara Gayle and Teddy LeMaire; his father and his wife, Gerald, Sr. and Julie Libersat; one sister, Lisa Libersat of Branson, Missouri; and two nephews, Brooks Bertrand and Barrett Bertrand.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glady and Lily Vice Primeaux; paternal grandparents, Murphy "Mutt" and Mae Guidry Libersat; and uncles Donald Libersat and Rodney Libersat.

Gerald was born on September 9, 1961 and was a 1979 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended U.S.L.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and a great love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with friends in the marsh and had fond memories of hunting deer with his Grampy "Mutt", whom he adored, at his ranch in Texas. His back yard was a safe haven for all migrating birds and shared his home with his close companions, his Lab, Sadie and his cat, Sam.

Gerald was fortunate to have found his heaven on earth in Toledo Bend. Birds and wild life flocked there also. He enjoyed many hours sitting on the back porch looking out on the lake, enjoying the serenity.

He was known as "Yak" by his dearest and treasured friends. He spent his earlier years with the "Soda Gang" and treasured the memories. Through the years, the bond of friendship, of the "Soda's", continued and the memories were shared once again by all; during his days in the hospital, and later, once he returned home.

He was a rather private person, not always easy to get along with, but deep down had a heart of gold. He never refused to help a friend or anyone in need. He was a good companion and friend to many.

The end of his journey came quickly and his friends rallied together, coming from far and near to help, comfort, support and lend a hand to care for him.

God gave him many talents. As he reached the end of his life, he had used every one of them to the fullest.

To all his wonderful friends, family and beloved pets, this is for you from "Yak".
"Thank you ….for bringing sunshine to my gray and gloomy days, for being there when needed and for your caring, loving ways.
Thank you ….for encouragement, when I was weary and distraught. For words of consolation and for all the joy you brought.
Thank you ….for all your prayers, that were made on my behalf, for helping to ease my tears, and to replace them with a laugh.
I can face each tomorrow, for I know I can depend…on God…who sent many Angels, and it was you…My loving, treasured friends".
